Chronic Dev Team member pod2g released a new video of the long-waited untethered and functioning iOS 5.0. Tethered and Semi-tethered jailbreak has been around for a few months but many have been going through withdrawl(?) waiting for the untethered jailbreak to appear.
The Team is still working on jailbreaking the A5 chip-based iPhone 4S and iPad 2, but in the meantime it’s looking pretty good for those with the A4 chip-based iPod, iPad 1, and iPhone 4.
For those wondering, pod2g confirmed that the jailbreak will be compatible with iOS 5.0.1.
Tons of questions from my nice followers. Too early to answer. Will work on iOS 5.0.1, will try iPad 2 and 4S after others are ready.
On November 27, the Dev Team posted an update on Greenpois0n about the latest in iOS 5.0 jailbreak. The Team supposedly found 5 exploits back in September but Apple patched up a few critical exploits prior to the final release of iOS 5. One of the ways Apple gathers ‘intel’ for these exploits is by collecting crash reports sent by the iPhones. In this post, the Dev Team asked the jailbreak community to forward their crash reports to them, so that they could hopefully spot other areas vulnerable for the jailbreak exploit.
There was no confirmed word on the ETA of the public release; however this certainly looks like another big step in the right direction.
Digital Cupcake does not endorse or encourage jailbreaking or hacking of devices. We are just reporting this as news for those interested.
