Find My iPhone is a pretty handy tool. It obviously helps you locate your Apple gadgets (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Mac) when you lose it. When you access it on iCloud (or iOS devices), you are given the locations of the devices and options to do a Remote Lock, Remote Wipe, and Play Sound or Send Message.
All of those functions are essential, but the “Play Sound” function works nicely if you lost your phone somewhere nearby – maybe you left your iPhone in your jacket pocket or in your bag and forgot to take it out.
What the “Play Sound” function does is it makes your iPhone make a LOUD sound, even when it’s on silent or vibrate. It just rings away! You could stop the ringing by pressing the OK button on the iPhone’s screen.
I was freaking out the other day thinking that I left my iPhone somewhere, when it was just in my jacket’s pocket…oh the embarrassment
Anyway, here’s how you use it.
1. Go to http://www.iCloud.com and log in with your Apple ID
2. Select Find My iPhone
3. Select “Play Sound or Send Message”. Make sure “Play Sound” is toggled ON.
Hope you never lose your Apple devices, but in case they choose to run off, now you have a handy tool to help you find it!
