Solid State Drives (‘SSD’) are…simply awesome, what else can I say about it? It’s blazing fast and provides a new brand level of computing experience, especially coming from the old standard hard-disk drives that employ magnetic disks with a ton of mechanical parts.
I for one had skepticisms about SSDs – SSDs were much expensive per GB than the traditional hard-disk drives and frankly, I was pretty satisfied with my beefy 7200 rpm SATA hard-disk drives…that is, until I got my MacBook Air that came with a 256 GB solid-state drive.
I still smile each time I turn on my computer. My MacBook Air boots up immediately (almost) and I’ll probably never go back to using my old SATA HDDs…(well, I guess I’m exaggerating a bit there, but you know what I mean.)
Samsung is one of the more reputable SSD manufacturers currently in the market and to tout its amazing speed, a team called the “SSD Angels” by The Viral Factory hit the streets in England back in February in search of laptop owners. 4 SSD Angels in their ex-ambulance united 50 Samsung 830 SSDs with random laptop owners and filmed their reactions on camera.
The Viral Factory launched a sequel to their “SSD Angels” story – this time featuring 8 remaining SSDs and a full scale ‘Black Ops’ intervention, simply because “some people just don’t know what’s good for them”!
Take a look at the featured videos. I love the look on the lady’s face as she finds out that her computer isn’t so slow anymore.
