The Amazon Kindle has dominated the e-reader market since it’s launch back in 2011, as it is one that not only allows you to read eBooks, but it can also get you feeds from several subscription sites, newspapers and magazines. Apart from that, it’s a touchscreen device to access the web, movies, music, apps, games, and more.
With the HUGE success of the Kindle Fire last year, many are now speculating that the Kindle Fire 2 will be producing an outburst of higher demands of sales and usage. In this article, we will talk about the rumored specs and features of this next-generation Amazon tablet, which is scheduled to be unveiled this August.
The Kindle Fire 2 is predicted to have a powerful processor running on a screaming quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 chip with an increased performance of five times than its predecessor. With this, expect extreme multitasking capabilities to be delivered in unprecedented performance while saving the battery life, as it has a backlight power while simultaneously enables and disables apps independently based on workload. This chip also offers the best web experience, with up to two times faster browsing and hardware-accelerated Flash.
2. Operating System
Similar to the Kindle Fire, the second Fire will most probably be fitted with the latest version of the Android OS (with the Google interface)—but with the Amazon app store and services instead of the Google Play Android market and Google Books.
Many trusted technology critics’ forecasts include the Kindle Fire 2 being built the following screen sizes: 7 inches, 8.9 inches, 9.7 inches and 10.1 inches. These are all deliberated based on the competitors’ screen display sizes, the trends in the tablet and e-readers’ market and also the suggestions or wishes of these evaluators.
The display would most likely be 1024 x 600 resolution for a 7-inch Kindle Fire 2 featuring 216 ppi and a 1920 x 1200 resolution for the 8.9-inch flavor featuring 264 ppi. These are impressive improvements, compared to the original Kindle Fire with a screen density in the region of 170 ppi.
Some online news suggest that the old Kindle Fire would slash off its price down to $149, to encourage the buyers to grab their own Kindle Fire 2 units at $199.
Many sources profess that housed with a front-facing camera, Amazon’s new Kindle Fire 2 tablets will be thinner and more similar in appearance to Apple’s first-generation iPads, but without any buttons on the front. Outer design wise, it will be made of a more durable metal chassis instead of the plastic case. As for the design related to connectivity, it will have micro USB ports and possibly HDMI-out jacks.
Every fan of e-reader devices and tablets looks forward to the next iteration of the Kindle Fire. With these hints, one thing is for sure: there will be a scope of improvement that is worth its [affordable] price.
