Will we be seeing an Apple TV in our living rooms soon? It sure seems that way. Maybe not ‘too soon’ but definitely in the near future.
During his first TV interview as Apple’s CEO this Thursday, Tim Cook hinted that the Cupertino company has big plans for the living room.
“When I go into my living room and turn on the TV, I feel like I have gone backwards in time by 20 to 30 years,” Cook said. “It’s an area of intense interest. I can’t say more than that.”
The Wall Street Journal reports that sources familiar with the situation mentioned that Apple is currently working with component suppliers in Asia on testing a few designs for a large-screen high definition TVs.
“It isn’t a formal project yet. It is still in the early stage of testing.”
Rumors could be just that, rumors, of course and the Cupertino-based company is known for its secrecy with its future products. Considering, however, that these Apple TV rumors continue to persist, iTV may in fact become a reality.
Apple TV has been projected to run between $1500 and $2000 by Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster.
